Shanghae" all the time in junk-channel.

"Rhenenia" all the time in junk-channel.

"Colonia" from the 11th January to the 14th February in the work-harbour at Woosung Fort and for the remainder of the quarter also in junk-channel.

By the suction dredger, "Canton," matter dredged from the work-harbour and from junk-channel was pumped over the harbour bunding into the space to be reclaimed from the 13th January to the 18th March, when she was removed to Kajow to pump matter on shore there.

The total dredging in the work-harbour, as previously calculated and agreed with the contract, was 119,360 cubic yards. This total was reached on the 29th January, when (from the 11th) 41,853 cubic yards was dredged. What was done after this date to the 14th February was not measured for payment.

No doubt dredging the work-harbour, at the expense of the contractor, will have to be done again afterwards. That a part of it was filled up so soon was not caused only by natural silting but mostly by matter, yet liquid, flowing out from the reclaiming over and through the bund before this was made sufficiently solid with clay for retaining the matter.

The suction dredger pump, "Cyclops," was almost all the time at work pumping up matter on shore at Lower Gough.

The quantities thus far, dredged and deposited, as measured in barges and according to the contract, are in cubic yards
